5S Workplace Organization (LEAN 101)

The foundation for workplace organization, 5S is a systematic process to improve the efficiency and flow of everyday workplace activities. A well organized workplace is more productive, less frustrating and safer for employees.

5S stands for:

Sort - Sort out any unnecessary items form the work area.

Straighten - Decide and organize where to keep necessary items.

Shine - Clean and maintain the work area in a state of readiness.

Standardize - Replicate best practices across the workplace.

Sustain - Leadership and discipline to maintain and improve the workplace.

 

Typical Length

This is typically a one day workshop combining 2 hours of classroom learning and six hours of shop floor application learning.
